"No question of scrapping the night market"

1 April 2026. Tiền Phong reported a dialogue on 1 April between the special zone authorities and 18 vendor households from phase one of the night market on Bach Dang street. The leases, signed in September 2015 for ten years, ended on 31 December 2025. Authorities said continued trading on the site lacked a legal basis under new rules on market management and road safety, and had allowed a temporary extension to 28 February 2026 so vendors could clear stock after Tet.

The chairman of the special zone People's Committee, Tran Minh Khoa, said there was no question of scrapping the night market, which is part of the island's plan for an evening economy, and that new locations were being surveyed. Vendors proposed keeping the market on Bach Dang street, extending it to the end of 2026, or moving it under the same name. The report did not name a new site.

It receives and sorts complaints, responds on site to problems with prices, service, security and public order, helps with legal procedures and lost property, and gives first aid after accidents.

A multilingual QR code system lets international visitors read information and send feedback directly. The launch followed problems during the Tet peak, including confirmed room bookings cancelled at short notice and price increases.

What we do not cover here

Private hotels, resorts, theme parks, restaurants and bars open and close often, and announcements about them are usually promotional. We leave them out. Public places, transport services, and rules that change what a visitor can do are in scope. If you know of a public opening or closure we have missed, send it through the contact page with a source.

We also keep the record of what has closed. When a public market, a pier or a service stops, the item stays on this page with its date, so that readers who find an old guide can check whether its advice still holds.
